FOGIA_SWEDEN: THE NEW BENCHMARK OF DESIGN, SINCE 1981
Fogia is an award-winning Swedish design company and furniture producer, collaborating with some of the most progressive contemporary designers working today. With roots in the Scandinavian design aesthetic, Fogia’s products are handmade in its own factory to stringent standards of quality and construction, using high-end materials and craftsmanship. Graceful elegance and purposeful function are realized through a genuine knowledge of craft and construction, whether it’s pieces for the home or public spaces.
All Stories Have a Beginning Fogia was established in 1981 by Hans Rosander and Lars Fritzell, and originally named A.B.G — Trading. The founders’ developed a pioneering method for joining sheets of plexiglass to create striking tables and storage. In the years that followed, the company grew and began producing other pieces of furniture, changing names to Fogia Collection in 1986. Fogia’s reputation as makers of quality furniture developed fast, receiving plenty of contract and public space commissions while also steadily building a network of retailers around Sweden. Today we still proudly uphold the Fogia brand DNA, with strong personal relationships with all our retailers. Fogia Today Fogia is no longer owned by its founders, and was given a new lease of life in 2011 when a new owner stepped in. The Fogia collection was overhauled and the brand began a new direction, working collaboratively with a roster of designers from across the Nordics and Europe. Fogia remains loyal to its roots as one of Sweden’s upholstered furniture experts but also pushes boundaries within the conventional design framework. Today, Fogia sets the tone and pace of Swedish design with modern icons like Tiki and Bollo altering the shape and expression of Nordic design. Fogia is the benchmark of Swedish design; always likely to surprise and innovate to break with traditional norms. Production Our furniture is crafted by hand from scratch in our own factory in Gdansk, Poland. We use the best mix of traditional and modern techniques, controlling production quality throughout the entire production chain. One of the main aspects that defines Fogia is our approach to selecting and working with wood and timber. We select timber while it still grows in the forests close to our factory, and always try to source locally to minimize transport. We also start with the uncut log, milling it ourselves to minimize waste. And our natural materials and suppliers are close partners, again allowing us greater control and to ensure we meet our own stringent environmental standards.
