PESSA IMPIANTI_ITALY: SPECIALIST IN FLAKING & CHIPPING LINES, SINCE 1950
In the ‘50s the brothers Bruno, Luciano and Silvano Pessa founded F.LLI PESSA, a metalworking company that operated in a first phase in the sector of machines for agricultural applications (excavators, mechanical shovels), then other machinery in the industrial sector (automation coke ovens, ironworks) and then moved to the early ‘60s to the first discontinuous flakers for wood size reduction addressed to the particleboard industry, a sector in which it still operates today. Subsequently, in the ‘90s, the company will become PESSA IMPIANTI Srl, first led by Luciano and Silvano Pessa, to arrive today with the handover to the daughters of the 2 founders, whose DNA they worthily preserve.
Specialist in wood flaking and chipping lines, PESSA IMPIANTI Srl designs and manufactures machinery and plants for the particle size reduction of wood and preparation of flakes, chips and fibers, mainly used in the WBP, MDF, OSB industry. An important remark on the Universal Discontinuous Flakers, reliable machines with extraordinary performances, designed to comply with different production requirements and able to produce good quality calibrated flat flakes and OSB strands with superior mechanic characteristics. Their high performances allow to eliminate working shifts with consequent reduction of the plant basis cost: one only machine is able to produce flat flakes already suitable to the final use. That means reduced manpower, reduced maintenance costs, less energy consumption. Particular attention is given to the OSB board market:
- Initially with an exclusive representation agreement for the Russian market (where several Discontinuous Flakers type D 180 DMS/S-36 and D 150 DMS/S-28 have already been sold)
- Recently with the reconfirmation in the Indian market, thanks to the sale of type D 200 DMG / S-36, one of more performing machines in Discontinuous Flakers range.
No less importance have the Chipping Lines, since they represent the alternative to a poor availability of the raw materials; they allow the recovery of wooden wastes that can be reintroduced in the production of value-added composite materials in form of fiber and micro particles or used as alternative source of energy. Fiber preparation is obtained by comminution of particles by Knife Ring Flakers, produced in 3 types featured by rotor or impeller change and by Hammer Mills (versatile mills that have also found widespread use in pellet production plants. Fines for board surface are obtained by a range of Refining Mills that can be used for production of wooden powder too. Besides wood processing and fiber production machines, PESSA can supply a wide range of systems and equipments with complementary functions to improve their performance and for the complete automation of the lines. The extraordinary strong construction of Wood Feeders guarantees a long life over time; it is sufficient only one operator to work this feeding system that permits better cleaning of wood: it means improvement of flake quality, longer life of tools, remarkable saving in labour and energy. The product range includes all handling equipment for the product obtained from wood processing machines and its ensiling into storage units of various capacity and dimensions; the high capacity ones, with translating screw extraction systems, supply the autonomy for many hours to the plant allowing a continuous and regular flake flow. The production range includes Wood Shaving Machines type PL forzootechny field, designed for animal bedding soft flakes production, qualified for animal comfort and obtained from roundwood. In details, the production includes:
• Machines for the primary working of wood and recovery of wood wastes as: discontinuous flakers for PB and OSB, drum chippers, wood shaving machines for animal litters;
• Machines for particle comminution as: knife ring flakers, hammer mills, refining mills;
• Systems for wood feeding, handling and storage;
• Extraction, storage and mixing systems for flakes, chips, sawdust;
• Auxiliary equipments.
A consolidated experience of 70 years is a real guarantee for customers who can also count on a reconditioning service of the part subject to heavy wear as cutterheads, rotors and impellers, that assure high efficiency and top performance of the machines.
