Tomi Salo appointed Director of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation's Forests and Environment Sector

The Board of Directors of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation has today appointed Mr. Tomi Salo, M.Sc., B.Soc.Sc., as the new Director of the organisation's Forests and Environment Sector. The appointment takes effect on 18 May 2011. Tomi Salo, 36, has previously served as Managing Director of L&T Biowatti, before which he worked for the company as a forestry services executive with responsibility for the wood procurement function. He has also served as a branch manager at the Trade Association of Finnish Forestry and Earth Moving Contractors. “Tomi Salo has extensive experience of wood procurement for the forest industry and bioenergy production as well as of related branch organization activities. His experience will enhance our efforts especially on domestic forest policy, which is an area of emphasis for us,” says Timo Jaatinen, Director General of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation. “The successful attainment of renewable energy targets makes it very important to ensure that the right type of wood is steered into the right kind of end use. In future, we will need to find a more functional balance between the needs of the wood processing industry, energy producers and forest owners,” Tomi Salo says.
