THONET AUSTRIA: WALTZ WINS THE 2017 WALLPAPER DESIGN AWARD. SALONE HALL 20
Designed by the Italian-Danish duo GamFratesi, the WALTZ coat rack won the 2017 Wallpaper* Design Award; arrived at its 13thedition, the award celebrates people, places and design most interesting of the year selected by panel of creative high achievers, chosen by the famous and influential English magazine. An important international acknowledgement which testifies the project research’s work pursuing by GTV GmbH from the beginning of its history to the realization of the most recent proposal of the collection.
Waltz was chosen by Wallpaper for the innovative use of the bent wood which allows to create repeated sinuous rotations reproducing the ideal line traced by the willowy movements of the best known ballroom dance, the Valzer, from which the piece takes its name. The shape although well-defined, leaves space for project freedom thanks to the possibility to combine multiple modules, each made up of three curved elements which can be positioned along the wall on the same axis or upside down.
