Catas, the most important Italian and European institute of tests in the wood and furniture sector, is celebrating fifty years of history this year. To open the works the Director Andrea Giavon, who has sketched the history but above all the evolution of the laboratory, the long journey made since that distant 1969, when the special company of the Chamber of Commerce for the management of Catas was born, Service Center technical companies in the wooden chair industry.
A story that is undoubtedly rich and intense, which has led the Friulian reality to be the protagonist of the world of testing, certification, training and standardization worldwide and to have a second location, Catas Brianza, in the heart of the most famous furniture district in the world. Overall about 10,000 square meters of laboratory in which fifty highly specialized technicians work and a turnover of nearly 7 million euros, realized thanks to 2 thousand customers in 55 countries on four continents that in 2018 asked Catas to carry out 48,000 tests. The intervention of Franco Bulian, Vice Director of Catas, illustrated the many initiatives planned in this 2019, starting with the renewal of the catas.com website, in which a specific section dedicated to the fiftieth will be created, where images will be collected, testimonies, documents and contributions to outline three decades of activity and commitment of the many people who have allowed Catas to become what it is today. The birthday is characterized by an "ad hoc" logo and a calendar of technical depths and particularly dense seminars. Catas has also chosen to celebrate this important stage by creating a "special issue" in collaboration with the prestigious National Geographic, a publication that will be a different visiting card of Catas in the world. The laboratory has also commissioned Cerved to carry out a study on the "satisfaction" of its customers, so as to be able to objectively measure its effectiveness (the results will be announced in March). Andrea Giavon spoke again and announced the inauguration of the new mobile workshop, scheduled for next October. A hyper-technological structure, a "laboratory 4.0" of over 4,300 square meters - built in place of the structure destroyed by a fire in December 2016 - which will also host new spaces for the increasingly intense training activity of the "Catas Academy". A building that will give new wings to what has always been the strongest vocation of the center, ie testing components, materials, finished products of the world of furniture, to guarantee the health and comfort of those who will use them, as well as support to the manufacturing companies that will be able to know and possibly improve the quality of the results of their work.
