VENICE DESIGN WEEK, 6-14 OCTOBER 2018, VENICE / ITALY

Venice Design Week presented his next edition at ArtNight - Arte libera la Notte, the event organized by the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage of the Ca 'Foscari University. Next presentation will take place on 21st July 2018 at 7.00 pm at the exhibition Anomalie Architetture Aliene organized by the association SILOS Art Inside Venezia, where Venice Design Week curated the section dedicated to Design.

A dream reality: it is Venice, a city where the experiences generate economy, where the apparent paradox makes a visit inevitably desirable, where the material and immaterial concept is perceivable in every corner and in every moment. Venice is also the city of color, where the whiteness of the marble reflects sunrises and sunsets, where the rain makes the glass and the arabesques glisten, as Tintoretto (Venetian born renaissance painter) minutely described them. Venice: a jewel.
The themes of the ninth edition of Venice Design Week, which will animate the international design scene from the 6th to the 14th of October 2018, reflect Venice and will be celebrated with exhibitions and events in the streets and the squares, private galleries and museums, houses and shops, revealing the secrets of a centuries-old craftsmanship which relives in the contemporary design. Like every year, creative designers from all over the world are invited to participate with their projects.
The selected proposals - objects, drawings and photography - will be exhibited at Palazzo Mocenigo, at Museo Grimani, at the Scala Contarini, at the Oratorio dei Crociferi and at the Scuola Grande di San Rocco, with guided tours on selected themes and prestigious collections such as the Peggy Guggenheim Collection e LE STANZE DEL VETRO. Some of the contests expired already, like MATERIAL AND IMMATERIAL DESIGN and JEWELRY VENICE DESIGN SELECTION 2018.
Look beyond... but designers, design companies and design passionate can still apply till the 18th July for In Shop and LIGHT ART COLOR. It is also possible to apply for CAN TINTORETTO INSPIRE THE CONTEMPORARY DESIGN?, a competition open to all designers, which anticipates the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the birth of the great Venetian painter.
