SICIS_ITALY: DEEP SEA, NEW I'PIX CAPSULE COLLECTION

SICIS is renowned mostly for its artistic mosaics, where every tessera is chosen, cut and laid by hand by its mosaic masters, following designs and patterns. The human factor, bond to the artist precision and to the profound knowledge of the materials, is the basis of SICIS work.

Thanks to the method double indirect, patented by Leo Maurizio Placuzzi, these works can be elaborated entirely in the Ravenna laboratories and carried all over the world. As an alternative to the artistic mosaic, surfaces can be decorated with the pixel technique that we can compare to the "pointillism".
Mosaic tesserae and the minimum points that form the image have in common a compositional art that consists in the fragmentation and re-composition of the figures. So the mosaic, in its countless decorative and chromatic variations, polychrome and monochrome, is transformed thanks to the digital technology.
I'Pix collections reproduce the segmentation of surfaces by developing intricated and sophisticated geometric patterns, by recreating landscapes, bewitching flowers and abstract figures, as it appears in the video-art when you observe images at close distance. Nature, art, history and cinema are the primary sources of inspiration. The material adapts to every possible shape, but it's strong and eternal because it's glass or stone.
Looking at the final result, the decorations become to our eyes fluidity of the lines, of the outlines, losing the irregularity they have if observed in proximity.
In Deep Sea collection, SICIS recreated extraordinary sea beds with a fascinating and mysterious fauna. Immersed in an imaginary aquarium, we can walk inside unexpected scenarios and experiment how mosaic can be the color of an ingenious paintbrush, where art is combined with the matter.
