FAVOURIZED_GERMANY: DESIGNER REUBER HENNING MADE “AWAKEN YOUR INNER TIGER”

"Awaken your inner Tiger" was the motto of a commercial in the 90s and that´s exactly what Reuber Henning did. Antique tiger rugs from Tibet served as both the template and inspiration in the Traditional Collection and represent Reuber Henning`s admiration for traditional rugs. The abstract representation of tiger skins in the form of hand-knotted rugs was of great importance in ancient Tibet. It was said that they bestow power and strength.

Designers Franziska Reuber and Birgit Krah, known for their casual design approach, are bringing the power of the tiger into the living room and relying on refined and surprising details worthy of a second look. Whether it‘s a different-colored kilim edge with a very short fringe, which is deliberately different on both sides, or an almost imperceptible color change in the background, the designers are always interested in small disturbances or unusual details. Using them in the correct proportions and breathing life and excitement into the rugs is what Reuber Hennig is all about.
The rugs are hand-knotted in Nepal from Tibetan wool with a high proportion of silk, fine knots, a very short pile, and are reminiscent of historical museum pieces – elegantly animalistic and with a cloth-like feel. So now even the meekest among us can benefit from an occasional stroll on the wild side – in life as well as in our own living rooms. About Reuber Henning.
Since 2007 Reuber Henning makes high-quality handmade rugs. Unique designs are combined with the ancient Tibetan knotting technique to produce genuine masterpieces. The Berlin artists Franziska Reuber and Birgit Krah assume responsibility for the rug designs. High-quality materials, such as particularly resistant Tibetan highland wool and Chinese silk stand for a long service life of the rugs. Modern, but not fashionable, trend-setting instead of following, timeless though in line with the trend. Apart from the UN Headquarters in New York you can find their rugs also in the office of the Latvian President in Riga, the German residences in New York and Mexico City, in Arno Brandlhuber’s „Antivilla“, or Tim Raue’s Brasserie “Colette” in Berlin.
