FOCUS ON EGYPT: WOOD & FURNITURE INDUSTRY.

We have published in our Datalignum Magazine N° 265 January/April 2018 the demographic & statistical data and the printout with the name of the best Companies in Egypt. We would to give specific information on the wood and furniture sector and for this reason we written 4 times to the Industrial Development Association in Egypt www.invegypt.com   and the EFEC furniture industry (Egyptian Furniture Export Council) www.efecfurniture.com but these have never responded. We are therefore sorry not to be able to provide more detailed information on the industrial structure of the Egyptian wood and furniture sector.

Egypt is the most populous country in the Arab World and the third-most populous on the African continent. Statistics 2016, source IMC Agypt:

We publish the map of industrial concentrations in Egypt from which it’s noted that there is no single specific area, but that the industries are located in different locations. The ones that face the Mediterranean Sea are the areas around Damietta, Port Said and Alexandria.
South of Port Said, going to Cairo, there is the industrial concentration of Kafr El Sheikh. In the North-West part, going south to Cairo and the surrounding area of this city, the industries are located in the cities of El Gharbya, El Qalyobia and El Sharqeya. Following the banks of the river Nile to the south, the two important industrial concentrations are in the south, in Asyut and Suhag. The current furniture export from Egypt amounts to $250 million and aims to touch the $800 million mark in the future. Technology has revolutionized the use of wood in the modern world. There is a huge demand of technologically advanced wood products and raw material among real estate, infrastructure and business projects.
The rapid emergence of wood industry has induced the partnership of Cairo WoodShow and Egywoodex. The upcoming mega event mark the participation 8000 professional visitors and 150 regional and international companies belonging to the wood industry.
A strong focus of the event is to develop the regional market of Egypt and Africa by the influx of extensive demand opportunities and to improve the quality of local products in a cost-efficient manner.
