Constantia Industries AG  has acquired  the Masa Group

Constantia Industries AG is a subcontractor for the industrial sector with its 32 Group companies, which have established a presence on worldwide markets in the Derived Timber Products, Engineering Plastics and Surfaces Segments. The acquisition of the family-owned Masa Group in Germany will expand this position and strengthen Constantia’s activities on the global surfaces market.

Creation of Constantia Surfaces Segment
The activities of the Constantia subsidiary Letron and the Impregnated Papers Division of the FunderMax Group – both principally active as suppliers for the furniture industry - will be expanded to include the Masa Group, and will join together to form the Constantia Surfaces Segment.
The major component of Letron revenues is currently generated by foil and edgings production, and the acquisition of Masa will provide a strategic advantage by strengthening the company’s activities in the pre-impregnates and decorative printing areas.
In addition to production sites in Germany and Spain, the Masa Group is also represented on growth markets such as Poland, Russia and Brazil.
Worldwide locations will allow the Constantia Surfaces Segment to more efficiently utilise synergies on the procurement market as well as in production and sales. The Masa Group not only represents an ideal addition to business activities, but will also provide key support for the expansion of the product portfolio.

Plans call for realisation of the takeover retroactively as of 1 January 2005. This transaction represents a further step towards the internationalisation and growth of Constantia Industries AG. The acquisition is subject to approval by the cartel authorities as well as other suspensory conditions.

The Masa Group currently records sales of approximately EUR 140 million with seven plants and roughly 680 employees throughout the world. Constantia Surfaces will generate revenues of approximately EUR 260 million with a workforce of nearly 1,100 through its Group companies – Letron, the FunderMax Impregnated Papers Division and the Masa Group.

“Constantia Industries AG is continuing its international growth course by merging these activities in the areas of decorative papers, finishing foils and impregnating under the umbrella of the newly founded Constantia Surfaces Segment” emphasized Johannes Pförtner, Chairman of the Managing Board of Letron.
